Screamo is a genre of music which preeminently sprout from hardcore punk, in the early 90s emerge both in the states and in parts of Europe. It's refers to recent bands that play old style emo and more aggressive offshoot of emo which used short, chaotically executed songs which grafted "spastic intensity to willfully experimental dissonance and dynamics.Screaming from top of their lungs almost wrecking their vocal chords, laden over soft, proggy riffs or crashing metal madness, more the latter and  been heavily popularized by MTV as a reference to the pop-punk/emo bands of the new century.
 
Ampere  is an American hardcore band based in Amherst, Massachusetts known for their short (10-15 minutes) but extremely loud and intense live shows. The Band put the importance of DIY hardcore punk ethics and they are renowned for their vegan principle.


Antioch Arrow responsible for putting San Diego on the map in the mid-90's as one of the centers of the movement. They used fast and chaotic framework of hardcore punk to create songs that were at times melodic and at times indiscernible, while some critics have dismissed their creations as ludicrous and simply too weird.

Circle Takes the Square or CTTS - experimental screamo band from Savannah, Georgia, USA., formed in 2001, you'll notice first about the band is the loud screaming of both male and female vocals that often function in a kind of call and response.

City of Caterpillar an American band, from Richmond, Virginia formed in 2000.That released a split with Pg. 99, a full length album, and an album-length compilation of their demo and some live tracks. Their music moves from technical to restrained in a matter of seconds, often showcasing the prowess of their drummer.

Comadre is a band from Redwood City, California. Their sound is an off-shoot of hardcore and punk played fast and chaotic with an abundance of energy, but also a large focus on melody and tunefulness.

Funeral Diner were a screamo band, formed in 1998 in Half Moon Bay, CA, they split in 2008. Their style is true to the screamy, chaotic, melodic emotional hardcore and could be described as “epic” in parts, due to the long buildups featured in some songs, and because the length of their songs is in contrast to the “emoviolence” style that was also commonplace around the late ’90s. After the break up, members have gone on to form Who Calls So Loud and Lemonade.

hot cross a screamo band from Philadelphia The band was comprised of members from bands such as Saetia ,Off Minor, You and I , Neil Perry, The Now and Joshau Fit For Battle. Their songs are composed of intricate (and in the beginning of their career, dueling) guitars heavily influenced by Drive Like Jehu.

La Quiete is a screamo band from Italy. The band’s drummer also plays in the Italian band Raein. They have released many splits with bands including Acrimonie, Catena, Collapse and many others.

Mohinder From Cupertino, CA in the heart of Silicon Valley, formed in 1993. There came a hair-raising, filling-rattling scream of rage. Despite their brief existence, they were considered an important feature of the California hardcore scene, and helped to define the musical genre now known as screamo.

Orchid  Active from 1998 to 2002, Orchid was first and foremost a hardcore band, considered by many to be one of the pioneers of the screamo sound, combined a post-modern aesthetic with hardcore punk, releasing several now hard to find splits (with bands including The Red Scare, Jeromes Dream, and many others.

Portraits of Past  was an emo hardcore punk band from the Berkeley, California (San Francisco Bay Area). They were active from 1993 to 1995, touring the US in the Summer of 1995. The genre of music that they helped create is often described as “screamo”, though that term was not used at the time the band was active. Portraits of Past played a number of reunion shows in the second half of 2008. A new song was played at two California and two New York shows, but the band members have no plans as of yet to release new material.

Saetia (pronounced say-shuh) was a screamo band from New York City, formed in early 1997. Their first show was at ABC No Rio to about thirty people. Their name originates from a misspelling of the Miles Davis track “Saeta”, from his album Sketches of Spain, which, in turn, was named after the saeta, a religious tradition of flamenco music.
